Once again the race track that is the Mell road, has claimed another victim.
An eight/nine year old was crossing the road when a vehicle speeding knocked the child down.
As soon as the lights go green at the bottom of Trinity Street, the traffic wheels squeal and the foots to to the accelerators too much.
The race is on to see who can get to the top of Mell as quick as possible.
The matter is not helped by the serious amount of trucks that plough through the town via the Newbridge and then across Trinity Street and up Mell.
They are a serious hazard to the welfare of the town and further more effective steps should be taken to stop them than the joke method of changing the timing (shorter) of the traffic lights.
The trucks in particular drive through the town in order to escape the fares of the toll bouts. There is an argument with the prices of the motorway to be sure but the mount of heavy traffic that is ploughing through the town is crazy and being ignored by various responsible bodies in the town. |
