Donal Kinsella 'should have worn pyjamas'
By RONALD QUINLAN
Sunday Indo July 15 2007
DONAL Kinsella, the Louth businessman sanctioned by the board of Kenmare Resources last week, "should have packed his pyjamas"if he was, as he claimed, "an inveterate sleepwalker" a board source said last night.
Mr Kinsella, who remains deputy chairman of Kenmare, was removed last Wednesday
from the chairmanship of the audit committee after he appeared naked at the bedroom door of a female colleague during a business trip in May to Africa.
On the night in question, Mr Kinsella sleepwalked three times from his bedroom in the accommodation block at the Moma mine in Mozambique to the door of Kenmare's secretary and financial controller, Deirdre Corcoran.
The 64-year-old's nocturnal naked wanderings took place between 2.30am and 5am on May 9. On the first occasion, Ms Corcoran awoke to find Mr Kinsella, whom she did not recognise, standing at her door.
On Mr Kinsella's second appearance, another Kenmare director, Michael Carvill, challenged him after hearing a commotion.
Mr Kinsella, for his part, explained his actions to an internal Kenmare inquiry into the affair, blaming a combination of prescription medication, alcohol and inveterate sleepwalking. The Louth businessman also said he had forgotten to pack his pyjamas for the African trip. |
